Yes, it's true! No matter how many times the "judges" say it, it's still not a singing competition.

If it was truly a "singing competition only" as Randy, Paula, and Simon keep screaming into their respective microphones, we wouldn't be seeing bios on these "contestants." We also wouldn't be hearing all about stuff like "what's my favorite color" and "who is my hero." Those things have absolutely nothing to do with singing ability.

How can a TV show demand exhorbitant advertising fees? By establishing a viewership. The producers of this show knew what they were doing here. The "text your vote" part of this is brilliant. These numbers are extremely verifiable. If you require people to call in, you can use those numbers as viewers and get the high-dollar accounts like Ford and Coca-Cola.
