I recently had a friend tell me about the infinite power of God and the capacity of His love for us. This was not a new concept for me. I'd heard it from the time I was knee high to a grasshopper, both from my mom, and from church.
However, at this point in my life, I wanted to try and sort out what that concept truly meant, not just give it the nod and the smile I used to while I moved on with my life.
I think a lot of us do that, just give the infiniteness of God a nod and a smile and move on with whatever earthly drama we're caught up in. We think "I can't comprehend the infinite, so why should I bother trying?"
What I did this time, and what we should all try to do when a message like this is repeated to us in times of trouble, is try to work out what the infinity of God really meant to me, in my life. This poem is a result of my trying to work through that idea; trying to wrap my mind around something so sublime, so infinite. I hope it helps you to wrap your mind around it too.
God's Grace
by Diane Batts
There is no boundary for God's Grace.
The force-flex power envelops all,
And creates our being, our air, our space.
There is no qualifier for God's Grace.
It supports us, as we stand from our crawl,
The beauty, the hag, the great, or the base,
Grace creates our being, our air, our space.
Moving alone, or as part of the thrall
There's no moment where you can't find a trace
As there is no ending to God's Grace.
Alpha and Omega are not true walls.
Grace is something you cannot encase.
A within and a without of space
We cannot avoid answering its call
Because its the course, the field, and the race.
What a concept for a mind to embrace!
The magnitude can enthral or appall:
There is no boundary for God's Grace;
It creates our being, our air, our space.
So this the message for this week: God loves you, warts and all. 'Nuff said, but not enough thought about. When you get a spare moment in the chaos of your life this week, spend some time trying to think of how you can quantify that for yourself. Figure out what infinity means to you and what aspect of God you see working most in your life. For me it was, obviously, God's Grace in my life, but for you it might be God's Love, God's Understanding, God's Forgiveness, or however else God seems to be most active in your life. If you take some time and look back through your life span, I know you will see God working in it, and helping you along your way.
May your way be even better for your examination of the infinite.
'Till next time,
Auntie Di
