Trust is Not a Four Letter Word

Many people have trust issues. This is not a new thing.

Even Jesus was ridiculed in his hometown. I think I might understand how Jesus must have felt about this.

There are the same type of trust issues with my family.

What did Jesus do about the ridicule he endured? He packed up and hit the road.

So why can't we trust each other in this world?

Why is it so hard?

I was told once by a psychologist who specialized in career training that I trust people too quickly. That I don't make people earn my trust.

That wasn't completely true. I trust people I work with to do their jobs, yes. But I didn't trust anyone in my personal life. Very sad, I know.

But I learned that faith doesn't exist without trust. It simply can't. My faith in God is built on a foundation of trust. If that trust wasn't there, the faith would be very shaky indeed.

I trust my husband. I have faith that he will be the best Bruce he can be. And that includes being the best husband possible.

Bruce can have faith that I will be the best Brenda I can be. And that includes being the best wife possible.

So we trust each other in our individual decision-making processes. We don't second-guess each other. That's trust and faith in a nutshell.

That translates very well into faith in God. If you trust that He will keep His promises, you're halfway there.

The other half involves reading about all the promises God has made to us, His children. These promises are in almost every book of the Bible.

And believe me, those promises take on a whole new meaning when you read them again with an adult's mindset.

So read them again. Trust God that He never breaks His promises. He never has before, why would He start now?

Use these tools to build that "faith based on trust" that you've always wanted. It's not really that hard.
