Water vs. Wine
Dust? What Dust? "A house becomes a home when you can write, 'I love you' on the furniture." I can't tell you how many countless hours that I have spent CLEANING! I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect -"in case someone came over". Then I realized one day that no one came over; they were all out living life and having fun!
Why God Made Moms When I read this title, I thought to myself, "where else would we get our children?" That thought lent itself to some colorful musings including: Would we pull up our children from a garden like picking a carrot? With their little heads poking out of the ground (haha!), just grab them by the hair and pluck-em. Would we put a small foam pill in a glass of water and watch them expand? Would we order them like an ipod and for our app choices we would decide what color hair, how intelligent, etc.? Well, while I explore this pot-hole a little further, here are what some 2nd graders said when asked the question "Why did God make Mothers?
Recipe of the Week - Paella! If you do not own a paellero, the vessel which gives this dish its name, you will need a generous lidded casserole in which to cook and serve it. Almost any casserole dish that go in the oven can go on top of the stove. I used Trish's wok, including the base and lid...ps. unscrew the handle off the lid just in case it isn't heat-proof enough!
You've Heard of the Wailing Wall   This must be the flailing wall. I'm guessing that while designing this, no one considered the rising of the sun. Oh well, more laughs for us then! Can you guess where this wall is located?
Water vs. Wine To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine...
And those who don't and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand.

Welcome to Aunt Bytes!

I am called Aunt Brenda by some and Nurse Brenda by others...

I would love to share my life experience with those who need someone to trust for advice on happiness, health and wellness.

I am a professional nurse, mother of 3 grown children, and grandmother of 4 (including triplet girls!). I was a military wife for 13 years, moving my family across the globe, all the while trying to maintain some resemblance of "normal" for my children. And I was also taking night classes at the local community colleges along the way. After 20 years of those classes, I was able to enroll in the vigorous gauntlet that is called "Nursing School."

I am currently working as an au pair for a family with a special-needs child. I have once again become chief cook and bottle washer, and I had truly forgotten the job satisfaction that this type of position rewards me with.

Before I  became a professional nurse and lifestyle coach, I considered myself a professional housewife and mother. I learned from some of the best cleaning women in the areas I lived. They taught me how to easily remove even the most stubborn dirt and grime (from some of the wierdest places). So right now, all those tricks and tips I forgot I knew are rushing back to me. And I can use that knowledge to help you make your home shine with a minimum of effort.

Yes, even while carrying around a colicky baby, or shuffling a carpool schedule, or even those days when you wonder when you will have time to wash your hair again. Yes, you can do it, and I can help. Keep checking back often. I will be sharing more recipes, cleaning tips, and some news items I find interesting.

My ultimate goal is to help you improve the quality of your life through more efficient living. If you have a question, and you're not sure who to ask, just

Ask Aunt Brenda!
